  • Products: Advance Dermocare Dry Dog Food
  • Issue: Contamination leading to megaesophagus in dogs
  • Affected Lots: Advance Dermocare dry dog food 3kg, 8kg and 15kg bags.

Health Risks:

  • Pets: Dogs consuming the affected food developed megaesophagus, a condition where the esophagus enlarges and loses its ability to move food to the stomach
  • Human: No direct human health risks, but pet owners were advised to handle the food with care

Actions:

  • Stop Use: Immediately discontinue feeding the affected product to pets
  • Disposal: Dispose of the product safely or return it to the place of purchase for a refund
  • Contact: Reach out to the Advance customer service for more information and assistance

Reporting pet food problems:

Australien citizens can ask the vet to lodge a report on PetFAST if you both agree that pet food or treats may be implicated. PetFAST is a joint initiative of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and the Pet Food Industry Association of Australia (PFIAA).
