What Is Clostridium Botulinum:
Botulism has not been reported or observed in pet cats and has only been rarely reported in pet dogs. The signs of botulism in dogs are caused by muscle paralysis and include:
- Progressive paralysis – which leads to compromised or an inability to move properly
- Disturbed vision
- Difficulty or inability to eat/chew food
- Difficulty or inability to swallow
- Unexplained muscular weakness that keeps getting worse
- Breathing difficulties
Health Risks:
- Pets: Symptoms include progressive paralysis, disturbed vision, difficulty eating/chewing
and breathing difficulties. - Humans: Risk of infection through handling.
Actions:
- Stop Use: Discontinue feeding the recalled food.
- Disposal: Safely dispose of the product.
- Contact: Monitor pets for symptoms and consult a veterinarian.
